PROJECT

The design for the statewide memorial is to honor those who have given their lives in the name of public safety and protection. Located in the Oregon Public Safety Academy plaza, the memorial is intended to evoke solace, as well as provide inspiration to the public and the firefighters who continue to serve. The design incorporates a granite wall engraved names of the fallen and a black granite line of paving with the inscription “In The Line of Duty.” As part of the wall, a Maltese Cross, a symbol of protection and a badge of honor was fabricated out of bronze. It features a topographic relief map of the State of Oregon at the center.
