PROJECT
The Garden of Remembrance at Seattle Symphony’s Benaroya Hall is both a vibrant urban plaza and a poignant memorial that honors the more than 8,000 Washington State citizens who have given their lives in the service of our country since 1941. Placed among the names are several quotes from poems and letters, written by or about our honored fallen. We worked in collaboration with LMN and engineers on the design of the plaza, which is built on-structure over a parking garage and METRO bus tunnel. The memorial successfully integrates the urban fabric of the Symphony Hall, Seattle Art Museum, and University Street hill-climb with the surrounding arts district. The memorial incorporates engraved granite slabs, elegant plantings, and a series of waterfalls, channels, and pools.
